Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Locy. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Locy only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

2. The service

Locy helps loc wearers track their hair journey. Depending on your account and device, Locy may include:

• Journey tracking with progress photos, videos, comparison tools, and stats
• Care routines, retwist scheduling, check-ins, and challenges
• Learning content about loc care
• Product-front photo scanning, a product catalog, Locy Picks, and a personal shelf
• An AI companion, including optional photo analysis when you consent
• Paid Locy Plus features, currently including additional scans, additional companion messages, and full catalog browse

Features may change. Some features require a paid subscription (Locy Plus) or specific device permissions (for example camera, photo library, microphone for video, or local notifications).

3. Accounts

You may start Locy as a guest and later create a full account with email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Google Sign-In. Guest data may be migrated onto the account you create. You are responsible for your account credentials and for activity under your account. Provide accurate information and notify us at hello@fauiin.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

Free-scan limits and introductory-trial eligibility may be tied to your account and to the device you use. Deleting an account and creating a new one does not reset those limits. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that create risk for users or Fauiin.

4. License to use Locy

Subject to these Terms, Fauiin grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Locy for your personal, non-commercial use. We and our licensors retain all rights in Locy, including software, design, branding, and content we provide. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works from Locy except as allowed by law.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of content you submit to Locy, including progress photos and videos, messages, profile details, and other materials (“Your Content”). You grant Fauiin a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, transmit, display in-app, and otherwise use Your Content solely as needed to operate, maintain, and improve Locy, including through our service providers (for example storage and AI processors).

We do not claim ownership of Your Content. We do not sell Your Content and do not use your photos or videos for third-party advertising. You represent that you have the rights needed to submit Your Content and that it does not violate law or others’ rights.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use Locy for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes
• Harass, threaten, or impersonate others
• Upload malware or attempt to disrupt or probe our systems
• Scrape, bulk-export, or misuse APIs or AI features beyond normal personal use
• Infringe intellectual property or privacy rights
• Bypass subscription, security, scan-quota, trial, or other access controls

7. AI companion and care guidance

Locy may provide AI-generated chat, optional photo analysis, product scanning help, and care-related suggestions. These features are for general informational and personal tracking use only. They are not medical, dermatological, diagnostic, or professional loctician advice. Do not rely on Locy for diagnosis or treatment of scalp, skin, or other health conditions. Seek a qualified professional for health concerns or professional hair services.

Sending a photo in Companion chat for analysis is optional and requires your consent in the app. Using Scan sends a product-front photo to our AI processor to read the label; that is part of the scanner, not the Companion consent screen. We do not use your photos, videos, or chat content to train our own models, and we do not sell or license them for training. OpenAI processes them to generate a response under OpenAI’s terms. AI outputs can be incomplete or incorrect. You remain responsible for decisions about your hair, health, and products.

8. Affiliate and shopping links

Some Shop actions in Locy open Amazon or another retailer using an affiliate link. If you buy something after following that link, Fauiin may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Product ratings and loc-compatibility information in Locy are editorial and are not paid placements.

Third-party shops, product listings, availability, and prices are controlled by those sites. Their terms and privacy practices apply once you leave Locy.

9. Subscriptions and purchases

Locy may offer paid subscriptions such as Locy Plus through Apple In-App Purchase. Prices, duration, and terms shown in the App Store or in-app purchase sheet at the time of purchase control. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions auto-renew unless you cancel in your Apple ID account settings at least 24 hours before the end of the current period (or as Apple otherwise requires). Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device’s App Store account settings. Unused portions of a free trial, if offered, are forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

For purchases made through the Apple App Store, Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies.

The free tier currently includes a limited number of product scans (four) and a limited number of companion messages (ten). Additional scans, additional companion messages, and full catalog browse may require Locy Plus. Introductory trials, if offered, may be limited to one per Apple ID, account, and/or device. We may refuse to grant a repeat trial after account deletion or recreation on the same device.

Billing is handled by Apple. Refunds are governed by Apple’s policies. We use RevenueCat to help manage entitlements. You can restore purchases from the paywall or related in-app screens when Apple provides them. Deleting your Locy account does not automatically cancel an active Apple subscription; cancel through Apple if needed.

10. Third-party services

Locy relies on third parties (including Apple, Google, Supabase, RevenueCat, OpenAI, Sentry, Open Beauty Facts, PostHog, Expo, Cloudflare, and, when you use Shop, Amazon or other retailers). Their terms and privacy practices apply to their services. We are not responsible for third-party services we do not control.

11. Privacy

Our collection and use of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Termination

You may stop using Locy at any time and may delete your account in Settings or by contacting us. We may suspend or end access to Locy (in whole or in part) if you violate these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Provisions that by nature should survive (including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, and dispute terms) will survive termination.

13. Disclaimers

Locy is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fauiin disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Locy will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that content (including AI output and product information) will be accurate or complete.

14. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fauiin and its officers, directors, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Locy. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or Locy will not exceed the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to us for Locy in the twelve months before the claim or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (US $50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

15. Disputes

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us at hello@fauiin.com and try to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Except where prohibited, you and Fauiin agree that courts located in Pennsylvania will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from these Terms or Locy.

16. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. Continued use of Locy after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms, except where additional consent is required by law.

17. General

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and Fauiin regarding Locy and supersede prior agreements on that subject. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
